Getting in to Advocacy and Activism Aug 12, 2010 12:00 AM
Inner Sydney Regional Council will be running a Getting in to Advocacy and Activism workshop for social housing tenants in August 12th. The workshop will be free to tenants. The workshop is designed to enable participates to identify issues, to address and develop a plan to actively advocate for individuals and groups within organised (government & non-government) systems and to gain skills to effectively develop a work plan for advocacy and take responsibility for change in their lives and community. The Developer of the Redfern RSL site at 157 REDFERN STREET is Proposing a Mixed Use Development on the site (including a new 1 st Floor RSL Club) in a 18 storey building. Prior to submitting plans to the Department of Planning they are holding two Community Information sessions on 3rd June. The main session is at 7pm at Redfern Town Hall but there will also be a session at 4pm on the Block at the Redfern Community Centre.

At its July monthly meeting REDWatch is organising for Groundswell a presentation about the City of Sydney BEP2 Submission. This will be an opportunity to find out more about BEP2 and the City of Sydney Council's view of the proposal. There will also be an opportunity to find out about recent planning changes and ask questions.
