Waterloo NABs – Learning, Employment, Enterprise Action Group Mar 25, 2010 from 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM Factory Community Centre, Raglan Street, Waterloo,
The above action group is open to all agencies and residents working on projects tackling the above issues. The next meeting will be focusing on forthcoming landscaping projects at PCYC and Cook Community Garden, and other related projects planned for 2010.

Dr Anita Heiss, a member of the Wiradjuri nation of central New South Wales and one of Australia's most prolific and well-known authors of Indigenous literature, will be presenting children from the wordUP! literacy program that recently ran at The Yurungai Learning Centre community based project inspired to help close the gap in Indigenous disadvantage. with their books at the book launch party, which takes place on December 11th at The Factory Community Centre in Waterloo. The presentation of the books will follow a traditional dance performed by children that attend The Yurungai Learning Centre.

Memorial Sculpture in honour of the work of Mum Shirl and Father Ted Kennedy Apr 19, 2009 from 03:00 AM to 05:00 AM The Block,
The Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School and Community of St Vincent’s Church Redfern are inviting public comment on a memorial to the shared work Fr Ted and Mum Shirl. The presentation with model and photographs will take place at the Block. The sculpture is abstract in expression and presents the spirit of Mum Shirl and Ted Kennedy through connecting hands. Their lives exemplified the best of the Australian spirit. They worked to establish a society where justice, dignity and freedom could be enjoyed by all citizens, whether Aboriginal or settlers.
Rights in Redfern - New Human Rights Laws May 07, 2009 from 08:00 PM to 10:00 PM Redfern Town Hall level 1,
Australia is the only liberal democracy in the world without a charter or bill of rights. The Federal Government is considering possible new human rights laws. They want to hear from you. To give everyone a chance to participate in this, Redfern Legal Centre is hosting a community event. Your ideas and comments will be sent to the National Human Rights Consultation. There will be a panel of speakers starting the human rights discussion on the evening. Please RSVP by Friday, 1 May 2009. Refreshments will be provided

Neighbourhood Advisory Board Elections – Redfern from Feb 02, 2010 12:00 AM to Feb 03, 2010 12:00 AM
Inner Sydney Regional Council’s Tenant Participation Resource Service will be holding election for Tenant Representatives to sit on the Redfern Neighbourhood Advisory Board (NAB).The NABs bring public housing tenants together with Housing NSW staff, police, council and other service providers to work on issues affecting the housing estates. The Redfern Tenant Representative elections will take place on 2rd and 3rd February.
