- Waterloo relocations put back to mid 2018
- Discussions are still underway about what studies will be be undertaken in the Waterloo Master Plan which is scheduled to start in 2017. Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) have said the Master Plan will determine where on the estate redevelopment will take place. These delays mean LAHC will not know until well after mid 2017 where they will start and which residents they will want to relocate. On 12 December 2016 it was decided that Waterloo tenants should be advised that the first relocations will be pushed back. A brief statement on the FACS website says LAHC are now looking at relocations starting mid 2018.
- Community gathers to remember Ross Leslie Smith (1941–2016)
- Alexandria Town Hall was packed with tenants, friends, agency workers, bureaucrats and politicians for a celebration of Ross Smith’s contribution to his community on November 18 reported the South Sydney Herald of December 2016.

- Over the last 12 years Ross Smith has been active in REDWatch keeping an eye on what Government bodies do in Redfern, Eveleigh, Darlington and Waterloo – and trying to ensure that what happens works for our diverse communities and not just government. Ross’s encyclopaedic knowledge; his consistently taking it up to bureaucrats especially around public housing and redevelopment; and his desired to get them to play in our sandpit rather than us just play in their sandpit, found a natural fit in REDWatch.

- Ross Smith on Volunteering and Community
- This is Ross Smiths's contribution to the RedWater Montage book on Volunteer. With his passing this sums up how many people in Redfern and Waterloo experienced Ross. This booklet was produced by the Factory Community Centre and South Sydney Community Aid in September 2012. It collects 39 stories of volunteers in the Redfern and Waterloo area and information about where they volunteer. These stories both show the importance and strength of volunteers and groups in our community.

- Ross Smith SSH Distribution co-ordinator collapsed on Waterloo Green on October 4 as he was preparing to start distribution of the October issue of the paper. Sadly he could not be revived. Ross never spoke to anyone about his family and while he gave much of himself to others, he gave little away about himself. As yet police have been unable to locate any relatives. A public memorial celebration of Ross’s life will be held 9.30-10.45am on Friday November 18 at Alexandria Town Hall, 73 Garden Street (nearest cross street Henderson Road).

- Kaymet Corporation, the owners of the Rachel Forster Hospital site at 134-144 Pitt Street in Redfern, is holding two community drop-in sessions to provide information about a proposed modification to the current 2013 Project Approval.
- The Back to the drawing board campaign
- On 15 June 2016 City of Sydney Council held a public meeting entitled "Packed In – bad planning vs smart growth. The future of the Central to Eveleigh precinct". At the forum they launched a “Back to the drawing board” post card campaign urging its residents to send the cards or other messages to Planning Minister Robert Stokes opposing the proposals currently being prepared by UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh.
- REDWatch - Initial questions regarding the proposed Waterloo redevelopment
- Below are a series of questions from REDWatch relating to the Waterloo redevelopment announcement. As the issues raised in many cases stretch across responsibility areas for UrbanGrowth, LAHC and Housing NSW REDWatch supplied these questions to all three organisations. REDWatch has previously been actively involved in the BEP2 and Housing NSW Draft Master Plan discussions and these discussions inform the questions raised in the attached document. The document is also informed by recent REDWatch forums on the Waterloo development and questions raised with us following the announcement and the subsequent HNSW forums and discussions. As answers to questions become available we will make these available on this website.

- The REDWatch UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh and Housing Diversity Policy was finalised on May 2 2016 following indications that UrbanGrowth's Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation Strategy would not propose a significant response to the areas affordable housing needs. These concerns were borne out in late November 2016 when UrbanGrowth unveiled their strategy which showed only a target of 5-10% on the government owned Central to Eveleigh land.
