Coalition Chippendale Community Groups Update - 14th November 2006
Fosters have organised two "information sessions" on their proposed Concept Plan for the CUB site. The Coalition Chippendale Community Groups has produced this update to alert residents to the sessions and to provide some background information about the concept plan that might be helpful for the information session.
The first session is on tonight (being Wednesday 15 Nov) at the University of Technology, Ground Floor Atrium, Building 10, University of Technology, 235 Jones Street, Broadway from 6.30pm to 8.30pm
The second session is on this Saturday 18 November from 11.00am to 2.00pm.
We urge you to attend so you see the plans and hopefully the model (which
we know is available in the Department of Planning). Please note is important
that if you have concerns about the plans or a particular issue you send an
objection in for receipt by the Department of Planning by the 27
November.
As it is Fosters and their consultants who will be providing the
information tonight and on Saturday, we urge you to carefully review the plans
and images. We have studied the plans closely and are conscious there is a
great deal of spin and "carefully" presented material which makes it difficult
to understand the real impact from the redevelopment. We have reviewed the
files and have concerns that data such as traffic studies and shadow diagrams
are not correct. The documents also amount to several thousand pages - so if
you are able to, we urge you to go to the information sessions and see past the
spin.
We have prepared a short file [2.8 MB see link at foot of page], to give you an overall visual understanding
of what the bulka and scale and street plan will look like. We urge you to look
at this prior to attending the information session. This will hopefully give
you a quick overview so that you are prepared for the information
sessions.
Importantly, the closing date for submissions is Monday 27 November
2006. Your submission must specifically say whether you object to the proposal
(on exhbition) and why. All submissions must be sent to:
Strategic Assessments, Department of Planning, GPO Box 39, Sydney NSW
2001.
