Redfern to receive $27m upgrade

Parts of Redfern in inner Sydney will receive a chic upgrade as a part of a massive funding boost to modernise the area reports Jessica Horton on 2GB.

The State Government has earmarked $27 million to revamp almost 300 apartments on Elizabeth Street by 2009.

NSW Housing Minister Matt Brown says the renovations are long overdue.

"We're talking about an eco-friendly design, something very aesthetically pleasing," he said.

"We're talking about a place where my tenants would be proud to call home."
