Block Party a Success

Saturday’s Reclaim the Block festival has been declared a success by organisers and residents, who wanted to reclaim their streets from the drugs and antisocial behaviour the area is known for reports the Central of 30th July 2008.

Redfern Police spokesperson Georgie Israel said the day was “awesome” and “really inspiring.”

“It was great because it was something the community organised,” Ms Israel said.

Anthony Mundine’s presence proved popular with the children, who lost no time in mobbing him, while Pastor Ray Minnecon took to the stage to perform Hallelujah along with Pastor Richard Philips.

Dancer Tammie Jarrett took part in the painting Spiritual Dreaming, a footpath mural, and there were also boomerang-making workshops for the children.
