ILC School Update – 22 May 07
The ILC have advised that some some archaeological investigation work is about to begin on the site. This means the car park gates will be closed and there will be no public access to that bit of the property from this Friday May 25th. The ILC consultants also advised that they will be letter boxing properties neighbouring the former Redfern School on Tuesday 22nd to advise them that the proposals for the site are on exhibition and about the archaeological work. Matavi and Tarunga residents bothered by ‘Stand Up’
It seems that Stand Up – a group of inner city activists (normally very responsible) – have stuffed up. They letter-boxed the residents of Matavai and Tarunga with pamphlets which claim that Frank Sartor’s RWA has announced plans to demolish their homes. This seems like a bizarre action to take as it is not the case. REDWatch remembers a few years ago, when there was a big demonstration over the Waterloo Standards Towers, a whole range of speakers turned up and the local member Kristina Keneally had promised to chain herself to the doors of Batavia. That was back in 2004. The battle was won and the towers are safe. If anything does happen, I’m sure you’ll see Kristina chained to the front door.

Chippendale Residents report that the lights which normally are on around the mortuary station and bus interchange went off for the latest Coaling of 3801 at Mortuary Station. Council Supports CUB Site Legal Challenge.
The City of Sydney has agreed to a grant up to $20000 to fund the expenses in the Land & Environment Court hearing against Fosters and Frank Sartor on 25th/26th July. The grant was made to FOCUS and will be forwarded on to the Environmental Defenders Office. Council has agreed to match donations (including the $10,000 from Legal Aid) to a total of $20,000. FOCUS has already raised $3,000 so, with Council's generosity, that makes a total of $26,000.

Referendum – the way for wards?
