These community markets are sponsored by the City of Sydney as part of a local community action plan and are organised by the Housing Communities Program (HCP) at the Factory Community Centre, in partnership with Surry Hills Neighborhood Centre and others. All monies raised from the stallholder-fees for the markets are injected back into supporting local environmental community projects such as the Waterloo Recycling Workshop. As the market is part of local community action on climate change, the focus of the market (not exclusively) is on sustainable goods, which are handmade, recycled, or second hand, and are environmental friendly. This is to assist in the reduction of waste strategies of the City Council. However all goods sold must be of reasonably high quality. The New RedWater Community Markets will be held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Redfern Park.

Note for local community groups:-

Discounts on stallholder rates may be available for those who are raising funds for registered/constituted groups and charities which benefit the local community. They must provide evidence of their legal status in order to benefit from this discount and should apply to the HCP Community Development Worker.

The Finders Keepers market will once again be held at contemporary art centre CarriageWorks in Sydneyʼs Inner West and will showcase over 75 young designers, artists and musicians. The Autumn/Winter event will be held on Friday 15th & Saturday 16th May.

The Spring/Summer markets held last December proved a smashing success with over 4000 people pouring in on Friday and Saturday. The markets buzzed as designers showcased a treasure trove of design delights from fashion, accessories, shoes, swimwear, lighting, homewares, photography and more. This year will prove to be more exciting with fresh new design talent and new design pieces to find and keep.

The Finders Keepers website also hosts designers profiles and the Finders Keepers design and art blog. The websites aim is to be a source for the art and design community and the supporters of the markets and designers.
