<p><strong>The National Indigenous Development Centre (former Redfern School)</strong> - When it opens in late 2009, this landmark Centre will provide sporting, educational and leadership development opportunities to thousands of young Indigenous people from across Australia. Meet representatives from the Indigenous Land Forum and find out about the facilities and programs available locally and the Centre’s involvement with the Indigenous Employment Strategy.</p>
<p><strong>The Future of Eveleigh</strong> - The Redfern-Waterloo Authority will update the community on the North Eveleigh Railyards Development and the Concept Plans recently approved by the NSW Minister for Planning.</p>
<p><strong>Redfern and Waterloo Safety Plan</strong> - The Redfern and Waterloo Safety Plan, implemented between 2004 and 2007, has led to reduced local crime rates and a safer community. Hear more on how community partners made the plan work, the vital role of the Redfern Community Centre and the results of the plan.</p>
<p><strong>Community Health Centre, Redfern Street</strong> - The development of a $10 million community health facility on the former Redfern Courthouse and Police Station site is currently underway. The Sydney South West Area Health Service will update the community on the services offered by the new facility.</p>
<p><strong>Building a cycleway network for Sydney</strong> - The City has started work on its 55km network of separated cycle ways across the LGA, the next vital step in encouraging Sydney residents to switch to a more sustainable and healthy transport option. Hear about cycleway projects in your area and how we plan to encourage residents to cycle in the city.</p>
<p><strong>Working together to save energy and reduce carbon emissions</strong> Our vision for a Sustainable Sydney will only work with community involvement and the City wants to encourage you to reduce environmental impacts.     <description>The City is developing Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Plans to improve local areas for walkers, cyclists and local traffic-with the next upcoming community consultations focusing on new plans covering Erskineville, Newtown and Darlington.</description>

<p>IMPROVEMENTS FOR WALKERS, CYCLISTS AND LOCAL TRAFFIC</p>
<p>These plans will manage and calm traffic on local roads, increase pedestrian, bicycle and public transport access and provide better safety and amenity for local residents. The plans also aim to:</p>
<p>* improve walking access to, and safety around, local schools;</p>
<p>* prioritise installation of new street crossings and traffic calming devices;</p>
<p>* plan for improved and new cycleways;</p>
<p>* improve access to public transport ; and</p>
<p>* re-direct through-traffic to State and regional roads</p>
<p>A community meeting for the Erskineville, Newtown and Darlington Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Plan will be held in conjunction with the Inner West Community Forum on Tuesday 31 March at Rydges, 9 Missenden Road Camperdown.</p>

    <description>Council endorsed the permanent closure of Balfour Street, between O'Connor and Wellington Streets, in February, removing through-traffic and providing much-needed open space in Chippendale. The park will integrate with open space in the CUB site redevelopment, ensuring it shares the character of the area and links with key features, such as bicycle networks.</description>

<p>The City is seeking your comments to help complete the plans. We are working with Frasers Broadway on a program to develop of the park as soon as possible, with remediation of the site expected to be complete by the end of 2008.</p>

    <description>At the City of Sydney's North Eveleigh Community Forum, University of Sydney announced a tour of the University was being planned to enable residents to find out more about the University and its plans. </description>

<p>The Following Information has been provided by Sydney University:</p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The University
 of Sydney’s Draft Campus
2020 Masterplan envisions a revolutionised and reinvigorated University;
providing innovative spaces for learning and teaching, a forward-thinking
approach to sustainability, and an inviting and accessible space for local
residents and the wider community.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The University invites members of the local community to
hear more about the Draft Campus 2020 Masterplan by attending an information
and feedback session on Saturday 23 August. You will also have the opportunity
to take a tour of public domain improvement works, innovative water and
energy-saving green buildings, improved pedestrian and cycling links and areas
for conservation throughout the University.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>Community comments on the draft masterplan are important
to the University and it is seeking your feedback and suggestions to assist it
in finalising the Draft Campus 2020 Masterplan.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The community session is focused on the overall draft
masterplan. The planning for specific University precincts is in its very early
stages and the University will consult with the community on these as it
develops its ideas in more detail.</em></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText"><em><strong>Drop- in session</strong>
– drop in any time between 12pm and 4pm at the Holme Building,

make the event, so it is currently developing a website containing clear
information on the draft masterplan and a feedback function. You can email

is seeking input from the community include:</em></strong></p>
