The University Of Sydney Design Team are close to finalising the revised plans for their Abercrombie Street Business School. This is a great opportunity for you to view the plans and speak with representatives of the project team. If you can't make it to the markets, project information and a model will be on display in the foyer of the University’s Services Building, 22 Codrington Street, from Monday 20 February until Tuesday 20 March. Re: Abercrombie Precinct Development – Community workshop

Over the past two months the University has been consulting with our neighbours and other key stakeholders, as part of a review of our plans for a new building to house the University’s Business School at the Abercrombie Precinct in Darlington.

The University has committed to addressing concerns about the initial proposal to ensure we produce a more integrated facility that respects the local character of the streetscape. To date, feedback from stakeholders and the community has focused on reducing the overall bulk and scale of the original proposal.

Feedback from our recent consultation has also identified other items that the community would like to see taken into consideration when preparing our revised plans for the site. These include:

  • Respecting the heritage of the site
  • Retention of existing trees on the site
  • Pedestrian safety and useful pedestrian links through the site
  • Publically accessible open space
  • Overshadowing and noise management
  • Disruption from construction related activities, and
  • Traffic, parking and access

The University’s design team are close to finalising the revised plan, which is expected to be submitted to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure towards the end February 2012.

Before submitting the revised plan, the University welcomes your input. As a valued neighbour, I invite you to a community information session. This session will include an update on our plans and give you an opportunity to provide your feedback, to help ensure we get this precinct right for the
future.

]]> No publisher REDWatch Meeting 2008-06-02T09:39:45Z Event Frasers Broadway Community Information Session – Wednesday 9 July, 2008 5pm http://www.redwatch.org.au/Events/080625eec Frasers have arranged a Community Information Session for Wednesday 9 July 2008 from 5pm to 8pm at the Fosters Brewery Office, Broadway on their Amended Concept Plan which should by then be on exhibition.

Frasers has lodged a modified concept with the Department of Planning for the former Broadway brewery site. The modified concept plan will soon be on exhibition, and with the technical documents, available to the public (Frasers will publish the documents relating to the modified concept plan on their website at the first opportunity). Frasers say they are keen to give high quality information to the community in order to inform any public submissions.

At 6:30pm there will be presentations to highlight the proposed modifications to the Concept Plan as well as the design excellence process. The international and Australian design team will be available to showcase their preliminary designs for the site.

Fraser’s realise that this community information session is being held during the school holidays which is not ideal but say they are unfortunately subject to the Department of Planning approval process.

Fraser’s intend to have an additional static display (in addition to the required display at the DoP) that will run during the exhibition process. Details of the location and timing will be made available as soon as the DoP provides its advice.

The Minister for Redfern Waterloo Frank Sartor released the NSW Government approved Phase Two of the Redfern Waterloo Human Services Plan on 11 July, 2008. Phase Two aims to provide improved services for older people, people with disabilities, migrant communities and the homeless in the area.

The Redfern Waterloo Authority is hosting an Information Event to provide further information about the Human Services Plan Phase Two and its implementation.

This event will also include a presentation on the findings of the first evaluation of the progress of the Human Services Plan Phase One.

As numbers will be limited and to assist with catering the RWA has requested invitees to RSVP attendance. If you have not received an invitation or would like more information contact Julie Parsons the RWA Community Relations Manager at the RWA on 9202 9100.
