    <description>Nominations are now open for Indigenous people to participate as a member of the Redfern Waterloo Heritage Taskforce for 2010. Nominations close 25 February 2010.</description>

<p>The Redfern Waterloo area has a broad extent of local heritage with significant values for both the local community and wider public.</p>
<p>The purpose of the Taskforce is to identify opportunities for the active conservation, interpretation and where appropriate, the adaptive reuse of the cultural, natural and archaeological heritage of the Redfern Waterloo area, in tandem with the revitalisation and renewal of the area.</p>
<p>If you have an interest in history and heritage matters and would like to contribute to the conservation of our heritage, you are invited to nominate for membership of the Redfern Waterloo Heritage Taskforce.</p>
<p>The Taskforce will meet up to four times year and will support cultural heritage management within the Redfern Waterloo area. Membership includes State and Local government representatives, as well as local community representatives. Special interest and heritage organisation representatives will also contribute to the work of the Taskforce.</p>

    <title>Draft Eveleigh Railway Workshops	Interpretation Plan on Public Exhibition until 6 April 2011</title>

    <description>The RWA has placed on exhibition Draft Interpretation Plan and Implementation Strategy for the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops. The Plan has been prepared for the RWA's Redfern Waterloo Heritage Taskforce by 3D Projects in association with Artscape and Only Human.</description>

<p class="MsoPlainText">The specific aims of the Plan are to:</p>
<ul><li>Guide
and facilitate interpretation of the site’s heritage significance as a conservation process designed to
sustain the site’s authenticity and character as the sites are developed; </li><li>Identify
existing audiences and visitor experiences on the Eveleigh site, including workers, neighbours resident in
the district, tourists and school groups, as well as to explore opportunities
to enhance visitor numbers and experiences in each of these categories; </li><li>Achieve
enhanced public understanding of the history of the area and its significance to residents, workers and visitors
by fostering active links with the community, as well as with tourism,
education and recreation activities; </li><li>Ensure
interpretive devices and their content have the potential to engage and provoke public interest, are viable,
accessible, sustainable (in relation to maintenance, evaluation and review)
reversible (in relation to heritage fabric) and compatible with the sites for
which they are chosen.</li></ul>
<p class="MsoPlainText">As part of the preparation of the Interpretation Plan for
the former Eveleigh Rail Yards a community consultation field day was held on
30 October 2010 at Innovation Plaza, Australian Technology Park. A Field Day
Report containing details of the day’s activities is currently in preparation
and will be available for download on the Redfern Waterloo Authority’s website
shortly.&nbsp;</p>
