]]> No publisher REDWatch Meeting 2009-10-31T03:45:00Z Event ‘Gamarada Aboriginal Men’s Healing and Life Skills Development Program’ http://www.redwatch.org.au/Events/090519piac Description: The community screening is a Gamarada initiative and the result of a partnership between the films producer and director and the Gamarada team, which includes: David Leah, David Beaumont, Shane Phillips, Mark Carroll and Program director Ken Zulumovski. Following the screening will be a question and answer session which will enable community members to engage with the film makers and key community representatives working in the field of men’s health, social and emotional well being. 

 Representation from local Indigenous leaders and identities will be in attendance and invitations have also gone out to key figures in NSW Health, Redfern Waterloo Authority and local MP’s. 

The screening will take place after a Welcome to Country by a local Aboriginal Leader, followed by an introduction to the movie by the Co-Creator and Producer of Men’s Group – John L Simpson and Director – Michael Joy.  After the screening we will conduct a Q and A session about the making of the movie and the positive effects it has had on other communities.  

Until recently Gamarada has existed without funding and we are seeking sponsorship for this event. If you would like to make a contribution please contact Gamarada by the email link below and indicate the type of support you can offer. We would be delighted to have your attendance for this purposeful event and would be grateful for any support offered by you or your organisation.

After the presentations lunch will be provided at 12, following which we will reconvene and agencies will be giving feedback on the progress of the implementation of the Waterloo Green Action Plan. This group is for any precinct rep, Volunteer, resident or agency, involved with tackling ongoing concerns about community safety in that green area.  

 

 

]]> No publisher REDWatch Meeting 2008-06-02T09:39:45Z Event Waterloo Neighbour Advisory Board Action Group Bi-annual Review - The Gathering Event 2 http://www.redwatch.org.au/Events/wna100819 For the last two years, the Waterloo NAB has being piloting a new framework of engagement; this was achieved through the establishment of four thematic Action Groups. The time has come to review the progress of this new framework and celebrate the successes, and look at the lessons learnt and plan together for the framework which will take us through the next two years. So we invite all Residents and Agencies to come along and hear the reports of the action groups and help us to set the vision for the coming two years. Lunch provided This has included groups that looked at Tenant Participation and Maintenance, Learning and Employment Training, Community Safety, and Health. The groups ran a number of initiatives, from community events (such as Summer on the Green, and the Older Wiser Festival), overseeing the Waterloo Green Action plan and facilitating partnership based training courses for local young people.

These groups consisting of local residents and agencies from across sectors meeting regularly and who formed their own action plan to address community priorities set by local residents. In addition the Local Member and the Lord Mayor held two forums a year each where resident could raise issues directly with Heads of Government Agencies.
