    <description>Council endorsed the permanent closure of Balfour Street, between O'Connor and Wellington Streets, in February, removing through-traffic and providing much-needed open space in Chippendale. The park will integrate with open space in the CUB site redevelopment, ensuring it shares the character of the area and links with key features, such as bicycle networks.</description>

<p>The City is seeking your comments to help complete the plans. We are working with Frasers Broadway on a program to develop of the park as soon as possible, with remediation of the site expected to be complete by the end of 2008.</p>

<p>The Following Information has been provided by Sydney University:</p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The University
 of Sydney’s Draft Campus
2020 Masterplan envisions a revolutionised and reinvigorated University;
providing innovative spaces for learning and teaching, a forward-thinking
approach to sustainability, and an inviting and accessible space for local
residents and the wider community.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The University invites members of the local community to
hear more about the Draft Campus 2020 Masterplan by attending an information
and feedback session on Saturday 23 August. You will also have the opportunity
to take a tour of public domain improvement works, innovative water and
energy-saving green buildings, improved pedestrian and cycling links and areas
for conservation throughout the University.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>Community comments on the draft masterplan are important
to the University and it is seeking your feedback and suggestions to assist it
in finalising the Draft Campus 2020 Masterplan.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em>The community session is focused on the overall draft
masterplan. The planning for specific University precincts is in its very early
stages and the University will consult with the community on these as it
develops its ideas in more detail.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em><strong>Schedule of events
– Saturday 23 August 2008<br /></strong></em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em><strong>Drop- in session</strong>
– drop in any time between 12pm and 4pm at the Holme Building,
Science Road,
The University of Sydney (next to the Footbridge Theatre). You will be able to
view information on the draft masterplan and talk through details with members
of the project team.</em></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText"><em><strong>Tours </strong>– meet at
the Shepherd Street Boardwalk, near the Abercrombie Street entrance, at 1pm and
3pm. Places are limited and we encourage you to book before the day.</em></p>

<p>The Minister for Redfern
Waterloo Frank Sartor released the NSW Government approved Phase Two of the
Redfern Waterloo Human Services Plan on 11 July, 2008. Phase Two aims to provide improved services
for older people, people with disabilities, migrant communities and the
homeless in the area.</p>
<p>The Redfern Waterloo
Authority is hosting an Information Event to provide further information about
the Human Services Plan Phase Two and its implementation.</p>
<p>This event will also
include a presentation on the findings of the first evaluation of the progress
of the Human Services Plan Phase One.</p>
<p>As numbers will be
limited and to assist with catering the RWA has requested invitees to

    <title>TORRES STRAIT ISLANDERS IN SYDNEY ECUMENICAL SERVICE</title>

    <description>On the 1st of July every year, Torres Strait Islanders acknowledge the 1871 arrival of Christianity on Erub Island in the Torres Strait.  In Sydney this year there will be much more than going to church and feasting.
 
Acknowledging that July One or its Creole equivalent, ‘Zulai 1’ is no longer restricted to celebrating Christianity,  the Lagaw Kodo Mir Torres Strait Islander Resource and Culture Centre NSW, with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts, have  organised a week long exhibition of high profile Islander artists and performances.
 
The week of festivities will culminate with an Ecumenical service and feasting on Sunday 6th July at the Redfern Town Hall. TIME TO BE CONFIRMED

    <description>Frasers have arranged a Community Information Session for Wednesday 9 July 2008 from 5pm to 8pm at the Fosters Brewery Office, Broadway on their Amended Concept Plan which should by then be on exhibition.</description>

<p>Frasers has lodged a 
modified concept with the Department of Planning for the former Broadway brewery 
site. The modified concept plan will soon be on exhibition, and with the 
technical documents, available to the public (Frasers will publish the documents 
relating to the modified concept plan on their website at the first 
opportunity). Frasers say they are keen to give high quality information to the 
community in order to inform any public 
submissions.</p>
<p>At 6:30pm there will be 
presentations to highlight the proposed modifications to the Concept Plan as 
well as the design excellence process. The international and Australian design 
team will be available to showcase their preliminary designs for the 
site.</p>
<p>Fraser’s realise that 
this community information session is being held during the school holidays 
which is not ideal but say they are unfortunately subject to the Department of 
Planning approval process.</p>
<p>Fraser’s intend to have 
an additional static display (in addition to the required display at the DoP) 
that will run during the exhibition process. Details of the location and timing

This group is for any precinct rep, Volunteer, resident or agency, involved with tackling ongoing concerns about community safety in that green area.
