Elevate the Music
WHEN millions of African slaves were shipped to South America in the 1400s, they took one thing with them rhythm. Uruguayan band Candombe Yaugura use drums and piano to recreate the beat. The 35-piece band will perform at the CarriageWorks in Eveleigh as part of the Elevate the Music Festival next week.Elevate the Music organiser Jacklin Matti said Candombe Yaugura should be commended for their charity work as well as their energy on stage."They raise money for hospitals and things in Uruguay. ‘Ningla-a-Na’ - Screening of the 1972 'Aboriginal Embassy' demonstrations
Inner West Film Fanatics will screen the 16 mm print of NINGLA A-NA, (1972, 72 min) at the Petersham Bowling Club on Tuesday June 24th at 7.00 p.m. In 1972 at the peak of Aboriginal political militancy in Australia, two Italian brothers, Allessandro and Fabio Cavadini, made a film called ‘Ningla-a-Na’ about the 'Aboriginal Embassy' demonstrations in Sydney and Canberra that year.

Travel by Train for Steamfest - 19th April 2008
Once again it is time to go to Maitland for the Steamfest Festival. As with last year the only scheduled heritage train service running from Sydney Terminal will be the Old Mateland Steamfest Flyer, a special charter with a heritage diesel locomotive pulling heritage carriages.

Lights, Camera, Action Film Night & BBQ
Lights Camera Action will be hosting a movie night as a part of Youth Week celebrations. BBQ at the Redfern Community Centre next Wednesday the 9th of April. Babana Aboriginal Mens Group will also be hosting a BBQ featuring performances by local artists. All welcome!
