We are pleased to let REDWatch know that the City of Sydney’s Alexandra Canal Flood Study and Risk Management Plan are now on public exhibition and available for your feedback and comments.

The draft Alexandra Canal Flood Study, Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan aim to manage flooding more consistently, while balancing the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The floodplain risk management plan recommends a range of mitigation works, development controls and emergency management measures to manage flooding within the Alexandra Canal catchment.

This catchment includes the suburbs of Alexandria, Rosebery, Erskineville, Beaconsfield, Zetland, Waterloo, Redfern, Newtown, Eveleigh, Surry Hills and Moore Park.

We also invite you to attend a community drop-in session where you can talk to Council officers and provide your feedback. This event will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday 20 November 2013, Alexandria Town Hall, 73 Garden Street, Alexandria.

Printed copies of the documents are also available for viewing at:

·         One Stop Shop Town Hall House (CBD);

·         Redfern Neighbourhood Service Centre; and

·         Green Square Neighbourhood Service Centre.
