- Amendment of Redfern Waterloo Authority Sites State Significant Site Listing - Until 15 Feb 2012
- The Sydney Metropolitan Development Corporation has changes to planning controls to a site which contains a heritage building known as the Large Erecting Shop (LES), and surrounding buildings and land (the site). The site, which is owned by Railcorp, was originally intended to be redeveloped. Railcorp has since determined that the site is to remain as an operational asset of Railcorp, and the LES be retained for rail heritage purposes. Accordingly, the SMDA has requested an amendment to rezone the site to Special Purposes Zone – Infrastructure, and amend the development controls to reflect this decision. In addition, to ensure that existing and potential future operations of private rail heritage operators can occur on the site it is proposed to permit rail infrastructure facilities and information and education facilities to be carried out with consent by any person as an additional permitted use. In short the proposed changes remove 12 storey zoning above the LES and restores it to its existing height.
