The Waterloo South social housing redevelopment will create one of the densest areas in Sydney. What needs to be done to make it work, especially for those on low incomes? We will receive input from:

  • Laura Crommelin a Senior Lecturer in the City Planning Program at UNSW Sydney who has undertaken research on Improving outcomes for apartment residents and neighbourhoods with special reference to low income residents.
  • Philip Thalis is an Architect with experience on LAHC projects and as a recently retired Councilor on the City of Sydney. He has a particular interest in public space projects and place making.
  • Tim Williams grew up in public housing in the UK and has been the CEO of the Committee for Sydney and an advisor to governments on cities and urban renewal. He has practical experience in what is needed to make density work well.
