There are two parts to the redevelopment, the planning controls and the logistics of the redevelopment. Of late the development discussion has focused only on the planning controls, but it is important to also have discussions about how the redevelopment will be done.
On the logistics side LAHC has now committed to the redevelopment of the Waterloo Estate starting with Waterloo South. Developers and Community Housing providers are being sort, potentially for the redevelopment of whole estate as part of the planning for how the development will proceed. The community will see examples of the redevelopment proceeding with contamination drilling planned in Waterloo South in August. LAHC is reopening Waterloo Connect for a couple of days a week and becoming more directly involved around the estate now that the formal exhibition is over. Planning frameworks for relocations and human services are also starting to happen. All of this is independent of the final planning controls. REDWatch has asked LAHC to talk to this part of its activities at the meeting.
This REDWatch monthly meeting will be on Thursday 4th August at 6pm. It will be a hybrid meeting to allow tenants with online difficulties to join in person at The Factory Community Centre and for others who might be isolating or have difficulty getting to The Factory to join via Zoom on https://tinyurl.com/RedwatchZoomMeeting.
