NSW Parliament

The NSW Parliament has a number of standing committees as well as the ability to set up special committees to inquire into issues of communtiy or government concern. A number of Inquiries are undertaken by NSW Parliament which impact on Redfern Waterloo. In 2004 the Standing Committtee on Social Issues of the Legislative Council undertook an "Inquiry into Issues relating to Redfern & Waterloo". In 2008 the committee will conduct an Inquiry into Overcoming Aboriginal Social Disadvantage.

Map 3 of the "Metropolitan Rail Expansion Program: Metro Pitt and Metro West indicative protection corridors in October 2005" shows where future rail infrastructure may be placed in relation to Redfern Waterloo. A SEPP was introduced in February 2006 to preserve two possible future underground routes within the City of Sydney from being effected by possible future development over the proposed routes. On Tuesday 20th November the Redfern Waterloo Chamber of Commerce met with Matt Brown the NSW Minister for Housing. The following Briefing Note was released following the meeting.
