Bus Routes

This maps show how the RED Area is served by bus routes. Bus routes tend to serve through trafic rather than the transport needs of those that live in the area. The RED consultation identified the need for both a local figure 8 bus route to enable local people to easily access Railway Stations as well as a wider service to allow the community to access hospital, shopping and open space. Initial RWA Map

This map was the one initially released to the media, and put on the RWPP website to show the RWA boundaries. It follows the earlier RED boundaries. It was not until the legislation became available that it was realised that Alexandria was not part of the area to be covered by the RWA. Map is 251 Kb.

In 2004 the Standing Committtee on Social Issues of the Legislative Council undertook an "Inquiry into Issues relating to Redfern & Waterloo". Their report received a wide range of submissions and their recomendations covered the areas issues and the way in which the NSW Government was responding to these challenges.

The Inquiry received 94 Submissions and heard evidence from a large range of people and government officials between May and November 2004. Much of this evidence is available on the Inquiry website in the transcripts and the public submissions. In this section we have tried to make it possible to find material that might be of interest.

This is a list of the submissions made to the Legislative Council Standing Committee on Social Issues Inquiry into issues relating to Redfern and Waterloo. This list is based on the Inquiry's website and had added to it any additional information found in Appendix 1 of the Inquiry's Final Report which lists the details of those making submissions to the Inquiry. Submissions which are on the Inquiry website have the link to the submission built in to the Submission number and name and show the size od the file. The document should open in a new window.
