Waterloo Public Housing Update – 6pm Thurs 7 September

The NSW Government has announced that the Waterloo South redevelopment will proceed with an increased quantity of social and affordable housing. At the same time work is underway to create a new Homes NSW agency and to overhaul a much criticised public housing maintenance system. The REDWatch meeting on Thursday 7th September at 6pm will provide an update on all these changes proposed by the new NSW Government.

While the Minister Rose Jackson is unable to attend her office will be represented by her Director of Policy, Mat Campbell who can talk about Homes NSW and the changes Government are considering.

Significant change is proposed to the way public housing maintenance is handled when the current maintenance contract expires in 2024. Mark Byrne from LAHC maintenance will talk about the changes being considered to rework the public housing maintenance system.

With the policy direction for Waterloo South now set by Government, the CEO of Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) Michael Wheatley and David Johns, who has been heading the project for LAHC, will update people on the announcement and what to expect as the project progresses.

This will be an opportunity to hear from those involved in the decisions about Waterloo and public housing so come along to the public meeting to hear what is proposed and to bring your questions and suggestions.

The meeting will be held at 6pm at the Factory Community Centre, 67 Raglan Street, Waterloo. It will also be on Zoom via https://tinyurl.com/RedwatchZoomMeeting. Everyone with a potential interest in this topic is welcome to attend.
