Dear Neighbour
Re: Abercrombie Precinct Development – Community Information session
As you may be aware, the University of Sydney is planning development of a new building for our Business School at the Abercrombie Precinct in Darlington.
In response to community and stakeholder feedback about the original proposal, the University has reconsidered the overall concept and is now close to finalising a revised project brief that has been developed by our Campus Infrastructure Services division.
The University is keen to ensure we produce the best possible outcome for future users of the building as well as for our neighbours. The aim is to produce a more interesting and integrated facility that respects the local character of the streetscape. Proposed changes to the development include:
Reducing the overall bulk and scale of the original proposal Integrating the joinery workshop building to keep a heritage connection to previous uses of the site Maintaining the large Sydney Blue Gum tree as a key part of the landscape Increasing setbacks to Codrington Street and Darlington Public School Providing additional green space
Before finalising the revised project brief, the University welcomes your input. As a valued neighbour, I invite you to a community information session. This session will include an update on the status of our revised plans and give you an opportunity to provide your feedback on the revised project brief, to help ensure we get our future plans right.
