On 9 May 2011 Railcorp wrote to residents backing on to Ivery's Lane regarding their plan to move substations on North Eveleigh in line with the North Eveleigh Concept Plan and to renew the retaining wall along Ivery's Lane. This is a copy of letter sent to some owners along Ivery's Lane asking for their comment. RailCorp is both the proponent and the consent authority for this proposal.

Sydney University Director of Campus Infrastructure and Services, Colin Rockliff, issued the following update on Sydney University revising their plans for the Abercrombie Street campus on 7 July 2011. The next meeting to discuss these plans between the University and Residents is 9am 19th July at the University Services building.

Groundswell has decided to run some public screenings of “Saving Erko Estate” followed by discussions. These are designed to get people thinking about the plans to redevelop Redfern and Waterloo public housing and how they might respond. In the video tenants tell their stories about why they fought and how they saved their homes from a Housing NSW Redevelopment similar to that planned for Redfern and Waterloo.

This will be an opportunity to find out more about BEP2 and the City of Sydney Council's view of the proposal. The Funeral Service for Trevor Davies will be held at 10am on Thursday June 23, 2011 at Pitt Street Uniting Church, 264 Pitt St, Sydney (near to corner of Pitt & Park Streets and a block from Town Hall Station). The service will be followed by refreshments until 1pm.

Trevor Davies was one of the founding members of REDWatch and served on the REDWatch Coordinating committee up until his sudden death on 14th June 2011. He was the long term secretary of the Darlington ALP Branch, an Elder of the South Sydney Uniting Church. co-editor of the South Sydney Herald among his very many other activities. The Redfern community is mourning the death of REDwatch founding member Trevor Davies following his death on Tuesday. Mr Davies will be remembered for founding and editing the South Sydney Herald and for his community activism and commitment to social justice writes Tara Blancato in the City News of 16 June 2011.

News Item SMDA Receives Urban Renewal Brief from Department of Planning by REDWatch, last updated: Jun 08, 2011 05:49 PM
The SMDA has received its brief for both the Redfern and Waterloo and Granville areas under the State Environment Planning Policy (Urban Renewal) 2010. The briefs set out the areas the SMDA is required by the study to investigate and make recommendations upon.

The Department of Planning posted in June 2011 the "Redfern Waterloo Precinct Outcomes Brief" which sets out the Director General of the Department of Planning's brief to the Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA). This brief follows a meeting of agencies including the City of Sydney Council. The SMDA will now undertake the required studies and report back as set out in Guideline for State Environment Planning Policy (Urban Renewal) 2010 which can be found on the Department's website at www.planning.nsw.gov.au/StrategicPlanning/UrbanRenewal/tabid/486/language/en-US/Default.aspx
