Redfern Neighbourhood Advisory Boards

The Neighbourhood Advisory Boards (NAB) are made up of elected tenant representatives, and both Government and Non-Government agencies who work together to discuss and address issues and concerns important to tenants on the Public Housing Estates. This year the Redfern NAB meetings have a themed program so that agencies can identify the relevant meeting to attend, based on their expertise. The Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School and Community of St Vincent’s Church Redfern are inviting public comment for a Memorial Sculpture to honour the work of Mum Shirl and Father Ted Kennedy at a Public Meeting. This meeting is to seek wider community‐consultation with the Redfern community and to display the maquette (model) and photographs of how the full‐scale memorial sculpture will look on the footpath (in Regent Street).

National Park Ranger David Wright will join sidewalk astronomers from Sydney Observatory with a talk on nightskies from a First Nation perspective. Knowledge with practical strategies: • Knowledge to help identify people at risk and in crisis; • Skills in how to approach a person who is experiencing thoughts of suicide; • How to develop active listening skills; • Learn about intervention strategies in your community. Aims of the workshop: • Learn basic SALT strategy (See Ask Listen Talk) - useful in detecting warning signs, listening and taking appropriate action; • Identification of resources in your local community. Empowering: Enhanced confidence in managing crisis situations.
