Waterloo businesses are asked to return the questionnaire by 21st of November 2008.
Midland Worker's Wall
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 03, 2008 10:52 AM
Associate Professor Lucy Taksa (Director, Industrial Relations Research Centre and Australian School of Business, UNSW) launched the Worker's Register with Premier Bob Carr (whose father worked at Eveleigh) on 29 August 1999 at an open day held by the ATP. Her proposal was not only the register but also a keeping place for the social history and a workers wall. Despite early discussions with NSW Government they have not taken up these ideas for Eveleigh as yet. The Midlands Redevelopment Authority in WA did ask Lucy Taksa to advise them on the Midlands redevelopment. The photos in this PDF show the WA wall that was dedicated to the Midland Railway workers. These photo's were circulated to the Eveligh Heritage meeting on 28 October 2008 by Dr Taksa. File is 926 KB PDF.

3rd International Railway Heritage Conference and NSW Tour for delegates – November 2009
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 02, 2008 04:01 PM
This is an Open Letter to Organisations and Individuals with an Interest in NSW Railway Heritage. It raises the obvious question of why a Tour of Eveleigh is not on the agenda for a tour of delegates. While this is Railway Heritage Conference there are many people passing through Sydney that have an interest in heritage railways that would visit Eveleigh if there was a tourist package. Japan is one country that has a large number of people with heritage rail interests.

The Blacksmiths & The Technology Park
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 02, 2008 09:58 AM
When the Technology Park was established its Development Approval detailed the requirement for the preservation of many aspects of Eveleigh's technology and equipment including the active heritage use of the Blacksmith shop and other heritage equipment. While some of the machines mentioned in the approval have been retained others sit outside deteriorating or have never been maintained as required. Funds received for heritage preservation and presentation were never expended. Implementing the Heritage Conservation Plan for the Technology Park could create additional heritage attractions within Eveleigh. Here we have some information on what could happen on the ATP part of the site.

RWA Heritage Interpretation Strategy
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 01, 2008 06:49 PM
This is the sum total of the RWA Heritage interpretation Strategy for the Former Eveleigh Railyards as at October 2008. While the HIS was prepared as part of the North Eveleigh preferred Project Proposal it indicates the RWA is considering a wider heritage strategy across the site. The Eveleigh Heritage Meeting of 28 October 2008 called for the formation of a task force / committee of government and non government heritage bodies to develop a comprehensive Heritage Tourism and Interpretation Strategy for Eveleigh. It was widely agreed that the current RWA document was inadequate.
