Following reports in various media regarding people being moved out of Waterloo. FACS head Michael Coutts-Trotter issued the following statement on 8 September 2017.

The State Significant Precinct requirements for Waterloo set this document as one of the documents that needs to be addressed in the precinct studies. This document is currently under review within the Department of Education and is not publically available to link to. Until the replacement policy is posted, REDWatch is posting the document referred to in the SSP requirements on its website. This will allow REDWatch to provide the link in our Combined SSP document and allow interested residents to access the document which needs to be addressed.

The official Waterloo State Significant Precinct Study Requirements is made up of seperate requirements for Waterloo Estate and the Waterloo Metro Quarter. There are differences between the two study requirements. REDWatch has been advised that the studies by consultants will address both sets of requirements. To assist the community REDWatch has produced a combined version of the Waterloo State Significant Precinct requirements. This document shows common text in both sets of requirements in black, Waterloo Estate specific text in green and Waterloo Metro Quarter text in red. REDWatch has also updated this document with the links to the documents mentioned in the Key SSP requirements and where documents are referred to in the body of the document where these are available.

News Item Waterloo Draft Consultation Map and Zones by REDWatch, last updated: Aug 02, 2017 09:59 AM
Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) presented a draft map to the Waterloo Redevelopment Group (WRG) on 19 July 2017. The map sets out the area to be consulted widely as well as the area for more intense consultation. The initial map also had light blue lines that link parts of the Waterloo Estate to adjoining areas this denoted that this area will be notified of a precinct meeting that will bring public housing tenants and surrounding residents together for a visioning session. There will also be visioning sessions for Aboriginal groups, Russian & Chinese language speakers and for youth.

Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) presented a draft for the Vision Consultation for discussion to the Waterloo Redevelopment Group (WRG) on 19 July 2017. At the Waterloo Redevelopment. This is an important document that sets out Drivers for the Waterloo Precinct Redevelopment and the Commitments that will influence the master plan - in effect the non-negotiables for the redevelopment. It also sets out the areas that are expected to be covered in the master plan Visioning consultations.

This is the text of a submission made to UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh on 19 June 2019 about ongoing mechanisms for heritage co-ordination across the former Eveleigh rail yard precinct. Discussions between UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh and the Heritage Office on this topic became apparent when it was referred to in development conditions for Mirvac's ATP development in 2016. These discussions are ongoing and UrbanGrowth is also in discussions with landowners across the former rail yards.

The REDWatch forum on Public Housing held on 6 July 2017 was recorded and this is an edited recording from that meeting. Here you can hear for the first 22 minutes Associate Professor Vivienne Milligan from the UNSW City Futures Research Centre very informative presentation presentation on the History of Public Housing (you can download the presentation slides she is talking to from www.redwatch.org.au/issues/public-housing/Heritage/170706redwp/download). Also from 21:53 minutes in you can hear Julie Foreman the CEO of the Tenants Union talk about where public housing might be going and from 35:46 you can listen to some of the Q&A session. Inner Sydney Voice Magazine runs a broad range of articles written by experts in their field. These articles cover a broad range of topics relevant to inner Sydney including housing, urban issues, civil society and human services. While sometimes we produce special issues, like the one on Redeveloping Public Housing or Making the NDIS work for everyone, there are also important standalone articles in other issues of the magazine relevant to that topic that are often forgotten about even though they are as relevant today as they were when they were published. ISV has grouped articles together by topics and provide a research / reading list for those wishing to better understand some of the issues faced in inner Sydney. It is particularly helpful on issues covering the redevelopment of Waterloo public housing.
