State Cabinet considers invitation to visit Redfern-Waterloo - May 2006

An update on last Months South Sydney Herald story on the invitation to State Cabinet to visit Redfern-Waterloo by Vladimir Korotkov in the May 2006 edition of the South Sydney Herald.

Last month a delegation of Redfern-Waterloo residents handed a letter to the Premier inviting State Cabinet to visit our area. The occasion was the State Cabinet’s meeting at the Ashfield Town Hall to engage in a process of consultation with local people.

The South Sydney Herald strongly supports the right of Redfern and Waterloo residents to have the same level of consultation as our Ashfield neighbours.

A spokesperson for the Premier has provided us with the following reply to our invitation:

“The NSW Cabinet is committed to visiting suburban, regional and rural centres across NSW. The schedule for future suburban Cabinet meetings has not been finalised and the invitation extended to the Premier and Cabinet will remain under active consideration for future meetings.”

We will ensure we keep you informed about the outcome of this invitation.
