Councillor criticises brewery redevelopment plan

State Planning Minister Frank Sartor took over control of the billion-dollar residential and commercial development from the council more than 12 months ago.

Mr McInerney, an architect and town planner, says the developer's proposal retains all the heritage buildings, but has planned too much high-rise development on the site.

"Somehow or other, the developer has taken the good things of our original plan and added the bad things from the Minister's plan and even further has added a little bit more density," he said.

"So at this point of time, I think we really need more detailed information and we will prepare a submission to the Minister."

The company behind the development, Fraser Property, says 3,000 people are likely to live in the precinct and between 6,000 and 8,000 would work there.
