Aboriginal man 'stabbed to death' at The Block

A MASSIVE police presence, including Public Order and Riot Squad have arrived at The Block, after the overnight stabbing murder of a 23-year-old Aboriginal man in the Redfern's notorious Everleigh Street last night reports Lauren Wiliams The Daily Telegraph May 22, 2008.

The man was found lying bleeding from stab wounds to the chest on the corner of Vine and Everleigh Streets shortly after midnight.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital but died a short time later.

Initial anonymous triple-0 calls to ambulance services reported that a man was bleeding on the street.

Lighting the area Police from Redfern and Surry Hills conducted line searches of the area between Hugo Street and Everleigh Street for clues throughout the night and are continuing canvassing the area for witnesses.

Forensics teams and homicide squads are assisting.

Local Area Commander Joel Murchie said no arrests have been made and the murder weapon has yet to be found.

Six Public Order and Riot Squad vehicles arrived at the address just after 6am this morning, meeting on the corner of Vine Street and Hugo Street.

A short while ago, detectives forced entry into a home on the corner of Louis Street and Vine Street, just metres from where the man was found dying, escorting four men from the address.

One man was handcuffed.

Streets throughout the Block are blocked while police continue investigations
