Redfern station upgrade plans held from public

A spokesman for RailCorp said the preferred option was being refined to ensure integration with the Redfern town centre.

A funding application has been made to Treasury. However, the public or Sydney Council has little knowledge of RailCorp’s preferred design.

Last week Redwatch residents group spokesman Geoff Turnbull said locals had asked to see the plans but nothing had been put forward.

Sydney councillor John McInerney feared the upgrade plans would be drawn up by the State Government with little consultation.

The RailCorp spokesman said Railcorp would prepare documentation later this year and early next year. Works were expected to start in 2011-2012.
