Behrendt’s novel launched by Germaine Greer

Larissa Behrendt's latest novel Legacy was launched by Germaine Greer last Friday at the State Library reports Central on 4 November 2009.

Legacy is Behrendt’s second novel after her celebrated first novel Home.

Exploring the complexity of father-daughter relationships, it is set in the period of the Tent Embassy and discusses many political concerns for indigenous Australians of the time.

Inspired by her own relationship with her father, the book, Behrendt said, was a way of processing her grief, and celebrating her father’s life achievements and legacy.

Paul Behrendt set up the Aboriginal Research and Resources Centre at UNSW.
