New bus for E-Bay loop?

SYDNEY Council’s “Village to Village” shuttle bus will expand next year to help fill the transport gap created when Sydney Buses cut the Elizabeth Bay loop from the 311 bus route reports Central 0n 4 December 2009.

At present the council provides shuttle bus services between Redfern, Glebe and Woolloomooloo every Thursday and Friday free of charge.

The council’s Corporate, Finance, Properties and Tenders Committee will decide whether to continue funding the services and to extend the Redfern/Woolloomooloo service to stop at Billyard Avenue, Onslow Avenue and Ithaca Road.

If successful, the extended service, which will be trialled in Elizabeth Bay for six months, will be made permanent.

The Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, said that use of the Redfern, Glebe and Woolloomooloo services had significantly increased.

There were 15,931 passenger trips between February and September 2009 compared with 9,477 the previous year, she said.
