Urban Transformation Study - 21 November 2016
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:45 PM
The UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh Urban Transformation, which we have been waiting much of 2016 to see in the end did not go through Cabinet as initially expected. Instead it was released in conjunction with the Greater Sydney Commission Central District Plan which makes reference to it.
Central Station Precinct
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:15 PM
The Central Station Precinct covers from Bourke Street car park to Cleveland Street. This area was outside the operational area of the RWA. With the new Metro Station going into Central and expensive redevelopment options above the rail lines, the Urban Transformation Study indicates that this precinct has been passed back to Transport for NSW to progress.
Redfern Precinct
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:12 PM
The Redfern Precinct covers from Cleveland Street to Carriageworks. This includes the Redfern end of the RWA's North Eveleigh and part of the RWA BEP1's Redfern Station Gibbons and Regent Streets precinct hence part of this site is subject to RWA BEP1 zoning. This is the most difficult of the UrbanGrowth Precincts including Redfern Station and land that Rail would like to retain. It will be a focus for precinct planning in 2017 by UrbanGrowth C2E.
North Eveleigh Precinct
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:09 PM
The North Eveleigh Precinct under Central to Eveleigh only covers the western part or Newtown end of this site. This site have previously been the subject of RWA BEP1 zoning and an approved Part 3A Concept Plan. Some development has taken place on this part of the site with the construction of a new access road and an affordable hosing project. City of Sydney have also considered new parks proposed by UrbanGrowth for this site in keeping with the Approved Concept Plan. This site is flagged for early development in the final Urban Transformation Study.
Australian Technology Park Precinct
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:08 PM
The Australian Technology Park Precinct covers the same area that was previously defined by the RWA for the Australian Technology Park. This site has also been the subject of RWA BEP1 zoning. With the sale of the ATP, the ATP disappears as a precinct in the final UrbanGrowth Urban Transformation Study.
South Eveleigh Precinct
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 07:06 PM
The South Eveleigh Precinct covers part of the public housing around Explorer Street and adjoining park and railway land. This site has also been the subject of RWA BEP1 zoning and the Draft BEP2 study of public housing. The Urban Transformation Study (UTS) limits the South Eveleigh Precinct to the public housing estate. At the launch of the UTS UrbanGrowth adviced that development of this site will be up to Land and Housing Corporation's Communities Plus progeamme for redevelopment of public housing estates.

Redeveloping Public Housing - Inner Sydney Voice Winter 2016
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 11:39 AM
The Winter edition of ISV looked in considerable detail at the NSW Government's Communities Plus mechanism for delivering the Government's Future Directions for Social Housing in NSW. The issue looks at the Waterloo announcement and what can be learnt from earlier public housing redevelopments. The issue also contains articles, many by experts in their field, which explore the issues that need to be considered in planning for any public housing redevelopment as currently envisaged. You can download the pdf of this issue from this link or you can visit www.innersydneyvoice.org.au/pub/category/past-editions/winter-2016/ to see the individual articles as webpages.
Agency Feedback on Engagement Strategy - Nov 2016
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 10:19 AM
With the finalisation of the "Waterloo Stakeholder and Engagement Framework" in December 2016 LAHC Communities Plus also released on 28 November 2016 agency feedback on an earlier draft. This is that document. It is important to note however that the feedback recorded relates to written feedback received by LAHC and that input made in direct meetings was not reflected in this document. The lesson - it won't necessarily be recorded if it is not in writing!
Land and Housing Response to REDWatch Questions
by REDWatch, last updated: Dec 14, 2016 10:00 AM
On 27 September 2016 Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) replied to the questions of 2 May 2016 that REDWatch asked of LAHC, FaCS Housing and UrbanGrowth Central to Eveleigh who shared various responsibilities at the time for aspects of the Waterloo public housing estate and its redevelopment. Since this time it has become apparent that LAHC are driving this process through its new Communities Plus mechanism rather than through UrbanGrowth who undertook much of the early work. The written responses are quite general responses to the issue areas raised by REDWatch rather than the detailed responses to specific questions many might like to see. These questions will form a basis for ongoing discussion between LAHC and the community during the Master Planning process.
