CUB SITE - PUBLIC MEETING - THIS SATURDAY 4PM - MERCURE HOTEL
This is an invitation put out by the Coalition Chippendale Community Groups to encourage involvement in the Public Meeting being organised by the City of Sydney about the CUB site exhibition.
Did you know Fosters Plans
propose:
· Parking for more than 2,300
vehicles
· 8,000 workers/residents and
hundreds of students – more than tripling our population
· Twin skyscrapers up to 120
metres high (40 floors)
· Massive towers banked back
into Chippendale
· Large scale overshadowing
including much of the “park”
·
The demolition of the “Sunburst” building
· Tens of millions of
dollars earmarked for the Government
Disturbinglya draft agreement
betweent the Government and Fosters, show there is a deliberate financial
incentive which links "developer levies" to the amount of development approved.
Disturbingly the Minister for Planning is also the Minister for Redfern Waterloo
responsible for the RWA, who receives the funds for use in Redfern Waterloo. We
have asked the Lord Mayor to raise this with
the Premier.
In exchange our community
gets a lousy overshadowed “foot-ball sized “ park.
This is your last chance to
comment. As part of the process, Fosters
must respond to the public comments before the Minister for Planning Frank
Sartor decides whether to reject, approve or call for changes to
the Foster Plans. Importantly, there is no right of Appeal once
the Minister approves the Plans.
To find out more about the
plans and the issues at stake, we urge you to come to this Saturday’s public
meeting - ie 11 November at 4pm (to 5:30pm) at the Mercure Hotel
(near the bus interchange.
The meeting has
been organised by the City of Sydney , in response to community outrage.
You will be able to give your comments and we will be making a
presentation. We urge you to come to this meeting, so you
can really find out what’s going on.
Fosters are likely to
organise some information nights, however we urge you to come to this
Saturday’s meeting. Collectively we can highlight community concerns
and urge the Government to consider some critical changes. We expect the media
to be there.
