This is a summary made by DPIE of the Questions and Answers provided at the Waterloo South online community sessions on 8 and 9 December 2021. This information was supplied to participants on 19 January 2022. Some answers are more general in this document than the answers given at the workshops but together with the workshop summary they do provide some important information about the proposal that is likely to go on exhibition.
DPIE Waterloo South Studies Workshops 8 and 9 December 2021

Two community sessions were held on 8 & 9 December 2021 to provide information on the work that has been done by DPIE and what it means for the proposed plan for Waterloo South. DPE asked attendees not to release the slides and details of the presentations. Instead in mid-January DPE released a summary of the sessions with some questions and answers from the workshops. These are the released documents. They are much less specific in some areas to the information and slides shown agencies and tenants in the December presentations.

The NSW Government owns about one third of the land area of Redfern Waterloo. The NSW Government is also involed in delivering Human Services into the area inparticular into the areas of high disadvantage. The Premiers Department's Redfern Waterloo Partnership Project operated in the area from 2001 - 2005 attempting to bring the various Government Departments together to address the needs of the Redfern Waterloo communities.

This is a copy of the 25 October 2021 Consultation draft of the Waterloo Human Services Action Plan. This plan has been developed by two Coordination groups meeting every two weeks since May 2021 and then combined into a joint plan by the Waterloo Human Services Collaborative and endorsed for consultation. The collaborative proposes to finalise the plan at its mid December meeting after taking into account feedback. PDF 1.1 MB.
NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) cancels Build to Rent for PCYC / Elizabeth Street Redfern

The media release below was issued by the Department of Planning Industry Environment, of which LAHC is a part, on 27 October 2021. LAHC have cancelled the Build to Rent (BTR) proposal saying that the planning proposals being considered by Council will impact the ability to deliver the BTR proposal. LAHC has issued a new EOI process for their standard Build to Sell model for this site that will deliver about a third social housing. Acording to a tender site the new EOI closes on the 14 December 2021.

This is the flyer for the REDWatch Meeting August 5th 6pm - Council briefing on Botany Road Corridor Planning Proposal. Council has agreed to make a presentation about its plans for the Botany Road Corridor so that locals can get an early understanding of what is proposed. Some of the area impacted by these changes will be next to the Waterloo South redevelopment so we expect there to be some interest from public housing tenants as well as from local private landowners and renters.
