Redfern Police and City of Sydney Council are organising a series of Good Neighbour BBQs. There will be crime prevention information, activities for the kids and a free BBQ. Residents will be able to speak with Police and Council about any concerns.

Rights in Redfern - New Human Rights Laws

Australia is the only liberal democracy in the world without a charter or bill of rights. The Federal Government is considering possible new human rights laws. They want to hear from you. To give everyone a chance to participate in this, Redfern Legal Centre is hosting a community event. Your ideas and comments will be sent to the National Human Rights Consultation. There will be a panel of speakers starting the human rights discussion on the evening. Please RSVP by Friday, 1 May 2009. Refreshments will be provided

REDWatch has asked Suzie Matthews the City of Sydney Manager - Social Policy and Community Support, to make an opening presentation. This will be followed by presentations by other interested agencies and a discussion about what should follow the area’s Community Safety Plan. The forum will be held on Wednesday 6 May 2009 T the Factory at 6pm.

This is the 2008 Process and outcome evaluation of May 2008 by Jenny Bargen of the Redfern Waterloo Community Safety Plan. The Plan was set up initially as part of the NSW Government's Redfern Waterloo Partnership Project with Council as the lead agency. We have replaced the OCR version of the original file with a searchable PDF version of the report. We have kept the OCR link so people can find the report from links in recent RWIUs. The File is 558KB KB PDF.

Following the success of the very first Finders Keepers design markets held in December, the founders Sarah Thornton and Brooke Johnston have announced new dates for Autumn/Winter 2009. The Finders Keepers market will once again be held at contemporary art centre CarriageWorks in Sydneyʼs Inner West and will showcase over 75 young designers, artists and musicians.
