What Could Eveleigh Become?

Many people seem to have ideas about what could be done at the LES or elsewhere in Eveleigh. To help capture some of those ideas we have started this section of the website where we will post people's ideas of what they would like to see happen at Eveleigh.

REDWatch Submission on LAP Grants

This is the REDWatch submission of June 2007 to the City of Sydney requesting that Local Action Plan Grants be included in the City's 2007-2008 budget. The submission also requests the city to explore how councils public liability insurance can be extended to cover community activities as happens in some other council areas. (23 KB PDF)

Friends of Eveleigh Media Release 11th June 2007 - PDF

NSW GOVERNMENT GIVES GO-AHEAD FOR REDFERN REDEVELOPMENT

On Friday 27 April, 2007 Minister for Housing Matt Brown issued a media release announcing that the redevelopment of the Elizabeth Street, Redfern public housing site would proceed as part of State Plan Priority E6: strengthening our social housing sector. Carlton United Brewery Site

The former CUB Site is outside the RWA operational area however the legislation which established the RWA laid claim to the affordable housing levy from this site. This resulted in a three way interest in the site between the City of Sydney, the RWA and the owner. In June 2006 the Central Sydney Planning Committee, following a letter for Minister of Planning & Minister for Redfern Waterloo, voted 4 (state Appointees) to 3 (council appointees) for the Minister of Planning to take control of the site.
