New Assistant Commissioner Selected
Commissioner Moroney welcomed Superintendent Burn’s appointment on behalf of the Commissioner’s Executive Team and said she had already represented NSW Police with distinction.
“Catherine has been fully operational throughout her career and has spent 15 years as a detective serving with the Major Incident Group, Crime Agencies, Internal Affairs and the Special Crime Unit based at the NSW Crime Commission,” Commissioner Moroney said.
“Catherine received the NSW University Medal in 1994, holds a First Class honours degree in Psychology and is currently the Acting Region Commander, Central Metropolitan Region.
“During the last four years Catherine has been a Local Area Commander at Burwood and Redfern.
“Superintendent Burn represented NSW Police regarding the Parliamentary Inquiry into Redfern – Waterloo following the riot in Redfern.
“I would like to congratulate Catherine, who is the third female officer to be appointed to the Police Executive Team, on her selection and look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role as the Assistant Commissioner Professional Standards,” Commissioner Moroney said.
Superintendent Burn will commence duties as Assistant Commissioner Professional Standards Command in January 2007 after the retirement of Assistant Commissioner John Carroll.
