Good sports at Alexandria Park
On June 4 2007 the team made up of 12 students from Years 5 and 6 played host to Strathfield South Public School. Both teams came out hard and ready to play, and it showed, as both teams displayed great skill and sportsmanship. There was never much in it, and it was an arm wrestle until the very end.
With strong effort and great discipline, along with the veteran guidance of Kindergarten teacher Joy Smith, the Alexandria Park Community School team prevailed for a hard-fought 9 to 6 win.
Special mention goes to Perri Eāe and Greg Walford who were named the Best & Fairest for their game play and leadership.
However, it was a great team effort with all members contributing to the win. A big thanks goes out to the bat boy Kieran Mundine for his supporting role.
Alexandria Park Community School now moves on to the next round and hosts the strong team from Gymea Bay Public School, who advanced to the 4th round, beating Caringbah North by a score of 23 to 4. The game will be played in the coming weeks with the winner advancing to the finals of the Sydney North/Sydney East Region.
In Cross Country news, a special mention of Rachael Bayliss of Alexandria Park Community School who finished in the top 6 at the South Sydney zone carnival, and was the only representative from Alexandria Park Community School to advance and compete in the Sydney East district carnival at Canterbury South Public School, where she put in another gallant effort!
