Aboriginal Souths players targeted: club
The complaint came after police stopped Souths players Dean Widders and Jeremy Smith for no reason, Fairfax newspapers reported.
"(They) were pulled over by the police outside Erskineville Oval - our training ground - for no real reason," Rabbitohs co-owner Peter Holmes a Court was quoted as saying.
"They were asked to get out of the car. They asked why... the players were understandably upset at their treatment - pulled up only for their skin colour and for where they were."
Mr Homes a Court sought and received assurances that police would stop intimidating dealings with members of the Aboriginal community when such action was not warranted, Fairfax newspapers reported.
The incident, which occurred in April, is mentioned in an episode of the television documentary South Side Story to be aired on the ABC next month.
