Overcoming Indigenous disadvantage Inquiry - Redfern/Waterloo Case Study

“The need to improve communication between government and Aboriginal communities has been starkly apparent throughout the whole of this Inquiry, and is evident in the example of previous recommendations relating to the Needle Exchange in Redfern. This need is addressed in this report through recommendations strengthening partnership and consultation between government and Aboriginal communities” says the Final Report of Legislative Council Standing Committee on Social Issues on Overcoming Indigenous disadvantage in New South Wales. Inner City Domestic Violence Action Group, Redfern Legal Centre, Mudgin-gal Women's Centre and City of Sydney awareness day is at Redfern Park Activities include live entertainment, a free BBQ lunch, information stalls, kids activities, guest speakers and white ribbon workshops. The white ribbons are a sign that the wearer believes that violence towards women is unacceptable.
