Clean Slate launched for Indigenous teens
The Clean Slate Without Prejudice program was launched on Sydney Harbour with a group of youths from the Inner City.
The aim of the program is to provide young people who are considered at-risk of criminal behaviour with an opportunity to alter their behaviour through early intervention, developmental crime prevention, positive relationships, support networking and behavioural workshops.
From a policing perspective, the program is designed to reduce youth crime and identify reoffending behaviours in the Redfern command.
Police expect the initiative to have immediate and long-term results, with Aboriginal leaders from the Redfern community and police officers volunteering their free time to play an active mentoring role to participating
