Case Study 1 – The Legislation ‘Consultation’

The first opportunity for the community to assess the NSW Governments response to the "Inquiry into issues relating to Redfern and Waterloo" recomendations for improvements in the way the government related to the community came with the announcement to establish the RWA.
Case Study 3 – Consultation with the Aboriginal Housing Company (AHC)

For this case study we have looked at the 'consultation' surrounding the future of The Block. Lobbying by the AHC during the passage of the Bill sort to ensure that the RWA consulted with the AHC regarding the future of The Block. Their wish was to build on the work already undertaken with government for the Pemulwuy Housing project. How the RWA has handled this matter further illustrates their approach so far to 'consultation'.

The Following Media Release was issued on 30th October 2005 to announce the agreement between the Department of Education and Training (DET), the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) and the Redfern Waterloo Authority (RWA) for the sale of the Redfern Public School site to the ILC for the establishment of a National Aboriginal Youth Development Centre.
Draft Redfern Waterloo Human Services Plan - 14.10.2005

On 14 October 2005 the RWA released Phase One Draft of the Human Services Plan for Redfern-Waterloo. The Redfern-Waterloo Minister Frank Sartor today released a media release announcing the Phase one of the Human services plan for redfern Waterloo. The Plan will be out for community consultation for a month. Details of consultation opportunities will be on the RWA website.

RWA Board Members

The membership of the RWA Board was initially announced on 14 December 2004 by Minister Frank Sartor. Ms Clover Moore was originally on the list of Board Members but upon consultation with the City of Sydney Council she declined the position.
