In March 2009 The Minister for Redfern Waterloo Kristina Keneally and the new RWA CEO attended a REDWatch meeting with promises of changes in the way that the RWA related to the Community and addressed the areas issues. As 2009 draws to a close what has really changed?

Waterloo’s Annual Summer on the Green will be held on Friday 4th December 2009 (2pm till 5) - it will include a free BBQ, music, and fun activities as well as information about local services and agencies.

Meeting hosted by the Lord Mayor with Government and non-government agencies and residents. It is a great opportunity for you to raise any concerns about you local area and find out about the various projects and developments that are happening.

Celebrating Community - Sunday 22 Nov (South Sydney Uniting Church (56a Raglan St, Waterloo), from Nov 22, 2009 10:00 AM to Nov 22, 2009 02:00 PM)

South Sydney Uniting Church celebrates its links with community groups with a worship service at 10am. Followed at noon by live music and a BBQ lunch catering for both vegetarians and omnivores.

REDWATER Community Markets - 16 January 2010 (REDFERN PARK, from Jan 16, 2010 08:00 AM to Jan 16, 2010 04:00 PM)

Redwater Community Markets are held 3rd Saturday of the month at Redfern Park and held between 8am and 4pm. These community markets are sponsored by the City of Sydney as part of a local community action plan and are organised by the Housing Communities Program (HCP) at the Factory Community Centre, in partnership with Surry Hills Neighborhood Centre and others. All monies raised from the stallholder-fees for the markets are injected back into supporting local environmental community projects such as the Waterloo Recycling Workshop. As the market is part of local community action on climate change, the focus of the market (not exclusively) is on sustainable goods, which are handmade, recycled, or second hand, and are environmental friendly. This is to assist in the reduction of waste strategies of the City Council. However all goods sold must be of reasonably high quality.

Waterloo Green Landscape Plan (Waterloo Green, from Aug 15, 2008 03:00 PM to Aug 15, 2008 05:00 PM)

The landscape plan has been developed in partnership with the community for the community. This will be your last opportunity to view the proposals and provide any feedback. The proposed upgrades will make Waterloo Green an even better community space for every resident to enjoy. Come and view the landscape plans, enjoy a free BBQ and meet your neighbours. In the event of wet weather the BBQ will be held at 3pm, Friday 22 August.

The 2008 NCOSS conference will be focusing on the State Plan and the role of non-government organisations (NGOs) in providing input and expertise to delivering the targets set by the State Plan. The conference also aims to provide an opportunity for the NGO sector to learn about how other sectors are engaging with the State Plan.

Politics in the Pub being put on by USyd students. The panel will consist of Geoff Turnbull from REDWatch, Col James, from the University of Sydney Fell Housing Research Centre, Councillor John McInerney from the City of Sydney, the new President of the Student Representative Council, and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Richmond Jeremy from the University of Sydney.
