Council Support for the Pemulwuy Project

The Aboriginal Housing Company’s Pemulwuy Project has moved another step closer, with a Council Committee recommending that Council grant owner’s consent for a Development Application to be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure reports this extract from Clover's eNews of Friday 2 December - No 575. Sydney Uni Business School Community Info Session - 30 November

Sydney University is looking to finalise its plans for the Business School on Abercrombie Street but before finalising the revised project brief, the University is looking for community input at a community information session. This session will include an update on the status of our revised plans and give you an opportunity to provide your feedback on the revised project brief, to help ensure we get our future plans right. Site Meeting at 52-54 Pitt Street

A group of Pitt Street Redfern Residents who formed "The Redfern Society" are concerned about the development proposed for 52-54 Pitt Street and are holding a site meeting on Monday 5 December before a Land and Environment Court hearing on 6th December 2011. If you have concerns about this development please contact them or join the site meeting or the court hearing. The details from their flyer are below.

SMDA Releases Details of Studies for redfern & Waterloo

The Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority has released the details of the studies proposed for Redfern and Waterloo over the next few months. The statement advises that "The SMDA will progressively advise on its website of the appointment of consultants and welcomes feedback from individuals, organisations and other stakeholders on key issues which they would like considered in the relevant study by the SMDA. This way, SMDA will be able to ensure key issues are considered appropriately and in a timely manner." The full text of the statement is below:

A BBQ gathering to discuss a fitting memorial for Trevor Davies and to raise some funds towards will be held on Saturday 26th November 2011 from 12 Midday to 2.00pm at Charles Kernan Reserve Darlington. Options raised in SSH include a Trevor bench in Darlington and more recently a suggestion that Sydney Uni should name a new park in its Abercrombie Street redevelopment after Trevor. It has also been suggested that there should be a campaign in memory of Trevor for an accessible Redfern Station. Join the discussion by attending this BBQ.

Redfern Community Safety Audit (2010) - This document details the concerns and issues identified by all participants during the safety audit arround public housing in Redfern undertaken in 2010. The report says it will be the basis for planning future activity in the area in the pursuit of improved safety for residents and visitors to the Redfern Area. The document is owned by the Project Control Group which oversaw the Audit and was released in November 2011 after a considerable delay and much agitation. File is 380KB PDF.
