HNSW Streets and Spaces Survey - Oct 2011
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 01, 2011 02:54 PM
Housing NSW wants to hear what local people think about streets, parks, plazas and open spaces in Redfern and Waterloo. Your answers will assist the planners in preparing a Preliminary Masterplan for Redfern and Waterloo that responds to what is important to you. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and send it to Housing NSW. This survey has been handed out at the October workshops and Street Corners. An earlier version also asked people to prioritize the Pedestrian Environment Keyword list found separately on this website. If you wish to provide feed back on your priorities on this list HNSW would be pleased to also hear your comments. File is 393 KB PDF.
Young people & the Law with Greg Smith - A SSH Forum - Factory Nov 1
by REDWatch, last updated: Nov 01, 2011 09:02 AM
Ninety per cent of young people in juvenile justice centres have at least one psychological disorder and 40 per cent have been in out-of-home care. On average they left school under the age of 15. Perhaps most concerning of all is that about half the young people in juvenile justice custody are Aboriginal, despite only making up about four per cent of the population. Changes to the State's juvenile justice system will require political will and community support. Your contribution matters.

Darlinton School Fete
by REDWatch, last updated: Oct 27, 2011 09:18 AM
It would be really helpful if as many community members as possible could turn up as a show of support, eat a sausage on a roll/some scones/coconut ice, buy some raffle tickets and most importantly, sign our petition to reverse the pre-school funding situation that the School and Community Association intends to present to the Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli.
Darlington Preschool Petition
by REDWatch, last updated: Oct 27, 2011 09:16 AM
Petitioners are asked to request the Legislative Assembly to reverse a decision by Minister Piccoli to more than double fees at the Darlington Department of Education community preschool. This action has made fees prohibitively high. Overall enrolments have already dropped by two thirds and we have grave concerns about the implications this may have for the viability of the preschool and its impact on the school more broadly. Please print off this submission and support the school with some signatures. File is 51 KB PDF.
Airds Bradbury Baseline Study
by REDWatch, last updated: Oct 26, 2011 08:23 PM
The baseline study for Redfern Waterloo was based on the Baseline study for Airds Bradbury. REDWatch requested the Airds study be made available so the community could see how the Redfern Waterloo baseline study compared to what was found at Airs Bradbury. One of the difference was that satisfaction level with tenant's dealing with Housing NSW offices was lower in Redfern and Waterloo than at Airds Bradbury. Here you can download the Airds Bradbury baseline study and make your own comparisons. File is 1.2 MB PDF.
RWA BEP2 Survey Results Data
by REDWatch, last updated: Oct 26, 2011 08:10 PM
The Redfern-Waterloo Authority (RWA) Stakeholder Engagement Report for the Built Environment Plan Stage 2 (BEP 2) contains an analysis of the surveys returned during the BEP2 consultation. REDWatch has concerns about how this data has been reported and has hence extracted from the report the raw data for further analysis. This data has been provided to the RWA/SMDA for checking and is being made available for researchers who are interested in peer reviewing this aspect of the Mediate Today report. The data sheet contains some questions that REDWatch would like to clarify that have been raised during the preparation of this data set. REDWatch will now prepare its own comments on the Mediate Today report. File is 43KB PDF

Brad Hazzard Speach on introduction of Redfern-Waterloo Authority Repeal Bill 2011
by REDWatch, last updated: Oct 19, 2011 05:58 PM
On 18 October 2011 Planning Minister Brad Hazzard introduced the Redfern-Waterloo Authority Repeal Bill 2011 to the NSW Legislative Assembly. In his speech below he outlines that the Bill will transfer certain functions of the RWA to the SMDA including the operation of the ATP. Planning consents below $10m will be transferred to the City of Sydney Council. The SMDA will be responsible for implementing The Redfern Waterloo Plan and collecting developer contributions. The Repeal Bill removes the "switching off" of the Heritage Act provisions in The Redfern Waterloo Act and preserves the provision that requires the Aboriginal Housing Company and other relevant representatives of the Aboriginal community to be consulted in relation to the Block. The full text of Brad Hazzard's speech is given below:
