Eveleigh's Tourism Potential

With its mixture of active heritage in the Blacksmith Shop and the Large ant the retention of many of the former railway buildings and associated manufacturing equipment Eveleigh has great potential as a rail heritage tourism destination. The RWA's Heritage Interpretation Strategy envisages "Use of the Heritage Walk Bridge, the Baggage Carriage and Coffee shop as part of an organised Heritage Walk through the North Eveleigh and ATP sites. This will use audio discs available for hire as well as tours organized by volunteer guides". Here you can find information about Eveleigh's tourism potential.
Review of Tourism in NSW - Some Submissions concerning Eveleigh
Mr John O’Neill AO undertook a Review of Tourism in NSW on behalf of the NSW Government in mid 2007. A number of submissions to the review argued the importance of maintaining the "Large" and Eveleigh as part of NSW's heritage rail infrastructure. Here you can read about some of the ideas presented to the Tourism review about the important role of Eveleigh and rail tourism.
What Could Eveleigh Become?
Many people seem to have ideas about what could be done at the LES or elsewhere in Eveleigh. To help capture some of those ideas we have started this section of the website where we will post people's ideas of what they would like to see happen at Eveleigh.
