ATP Sites Development Interest Call

Local and international industry are being asked to register their interest on developing three sites in Australian Technology Park as part of the NSW Government’s revitalisation of the Central to Eveleigh rail corridor reports this media statement on 31 October 2013 from Minister Hazzard and UrbanGrowth NSW.

Local and international industry are being asked to register their interest on developing three sites in Australian Technology Park as part of the NSW Government’s revitalisation of the Central to Eveleigh rail corridor.

Minister for Planning and Infrastructure Brad Hazzard said the registration of interest kick started the NSW Government’s plans to regenerate the rail corridor – an urban renewal opportunity unrivalled in Australia.

“By building above the rail lines and on underutilised land we can potentially make available more than one million square metres of new floor space – double the size of Barangaroo,’’ he said.

“Central to Eveleigh is a project for the long term, not short term.

“UrbanGrowth NSW has identified these sites in Australian Technology Park as suitable for early industry engagement and seeks registrations from tenants, investors and owners.

“Every square metre is laced with opportunity but also has to be considered with local community input.

“What is needed is visionaries in the private sector who can make the urban renewal happen.

“The NSW Government is also open to ideas that would expand the current gross floor area footprint, which currently is set at 102,000sq metres across the three sites,” Mr Hazzard said.

Australian Technology Park is an established 14ha technology business zone/business park precinct. The development of the sites would continue to drive the park as a major employment hub and contribute to the urban renewal of the area, Mr Hazzard said.

“Central Sydney and its environs – what is called Global Sydney – needs an additional 114,000 jobs and tens of thousands of new homes over the next 20 years.

“Sustainability, community and economic growth will be powerful drivers for a world class urban revitalisation from Central to Eveleigh.”

Registration of Interest Australian Technology Park – Urban renewal development sites

The Australian Technology Park is an established 14 hectare technology precinct wholly owned by UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation. It is located just a few kilometres from Sydney’s CBD to the north and Sydney Airport to the south.

The Park is designated as a Business Zone – Business Park C under the NSW State Environmental Planning Policy (Major Projects) 2005. As a result, residential development is prohibited.
