David Pitchford appointed UrbanGrowth NSW CEO

John Brogden, Chairman, UrbanGrowth NSW announced today the appointment of Mr David Pitchford CBE as the new Chief Executive Officer of UrbanGrowth NSW reports this UrbanGrowth NSW media release of 22 July 2013.

“After a thorough, world-wide recruitment search, I am pleased to announce David's appointment as CEO UrbanGrowth NSW.  David Pitchford comes to UrbanGrowth NSW with a wealth of experience in Australia and overseas working in the public and private sector delivering complex projects of a major scale.

David’s role will be to build on the excellent foundation created by out-going CEO Sean O’Toole.  UrbanGrowth NSW has a special role to play in making NSW the number one state again and David is the person to make this happen”, said Mr Brogden.

Mr Pitchford began his career in the Office of the Tasmanian Governor. He then moved into Chief Executive roles with the Australian Centenary of Federation, the City of Melbourne and had an in-between stint as Chief Operating Officer of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.  In 2007, he took on one of the world’s most ambitious development projects as the General Manager, Palm Jumeirah City in Dubai.

After completing the planning, governance, and operational framework for Palm Jumerirah City, David’s most recent role has been as the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Profession, Project Management for the United Kingdom’s Major Projects Authority.

The Major Projects Authority oversees and controls a near $800 billion portfolio of projects for the United Kingdom Government and reports directly to the Prime Minister.

In this role David effectively built an organisation from scratch, overhauling business models and processes to deliver an organisation that is now revered by the development industry and Government in the United Kingdom.

“It’s great to be joining UrbanGrowth NSW in its formative years.  The prospect of working with the NSW development industry and Government to drive much needed housing supply across this state is very exciting.  The nature of our future projects are highly complex, city building and internationally defining projects”, said Mr Pitchford.

Mr Pitchford will officially commence his role at UrbanGrowth NSW on Monday 30 September 2013.
