HNSW Redfern and Waterloo Renewal - Areas of Responsibility
Housing NSW released the following list showing the areas of responsibility of various people associated with the HNSW Redfern and Waterloo Renewal / Preliminary Masterplan at a workshop on 7 October 2010. HNSW have undertaken to update details on the list as changes take place so residents are aware of the roles played by various staff and advisors involved with the project. The release of the list follows a request by REDWatch.

HNSW Waterloo Update August 2010
In early September Housing NSW released separate August 2010 Updates on HNSW activities in Redfern and Waterloo. Both Updates contained the article on HNSW's pre-development baseline survey titled "Community Survey - a chance to win". The Updates also contained details of the new Housing Teams servicing each area and other information specific to the area.
REDWatch Discussion Paper on Public Housing Redevelopment

Win for Waterloo public housing estate
Housing NSW has announced a $12 million program across three years to install CCTV surveillance, concierges and maintenance teams to improve security at the Waterloo Green housing estate - home to 1500 residents reports Robert Burton-Bradley in Central on 10 March 2010.
Waterloo Green Neighbourhood Project - politics muddy the distribution of public housing funds
Following the February 19 announcement by Housing NSW (HNSW) of the Waterloo Green Neighbourhood Project, which will see substantial security and maintenance upgrades to the six public housing buildings that make up the Waterloo Green Estate, City of Sydney Greens Councillor Irene Doutney is calling for similar upgrades to other public housing estates reports Southern Courier on 24 February 2010.
Pilot for Stronger and Safer High Rise Public Housing
A $12 million three-year program – which includes "concierge" style front desk staff, on the ground maintenance teams, and extra security measures, especially at night - will be trialled at six Waterloo high-rise public housing buildings to improve safety for their 1,500 residents reports this media release from the NSW Premier on 19 February 2010.

RWA Update - 6 October 2009
The RWA has launched a new electronic RWA Update. The first Issue below says "This information service has been developed to provide you with the latest in development news, courses, events, programs and anything else that is a part of this vibrant community. “We are one!” - Waterloo Recycling Workshop
Diana Bateup collects items of furniture from streets in the South Sydney area – tables, stereo cabinets, chairs. Russell Walker works with nails, glue and paint to repair and restore furniture that is then made available for sale at very reasonable prices each Friday from 9.00am to 12pm in the lower car park of the Turanga high-rise in Phillip Street (across the road from the Salvation Army). Diana and Russell are two of the many volunteers involved with the Waterloo Recycling Workshop (WRW). On August 14 the WRW celebrated its first year in business at the Phillip Street location reports Andrew Collis in the South Sydney Herald of September 2009.
Respect for our elders
Community groups in Waterloo invite all to the inaugural Older and Wiser Festival, celebrating age and diversity within Redfern and Waterloo. A program of multicultural activities will be presented. Various groups will share their heritage and stories, in celebration of older people’s contributions to community life reports the South Sydney Herald of September 2009.
